After-hours answering for plumbers

Never lose another after‑hoursemergency call.

When a pipe bursts at 2am and you can’t pick up, the caller doesn’t leave a voicemail — they call the next plumber. Duskworth answers for you, sorts the real emergencies, and only wakes you for the jobs worth getting out of bed for.

The product, live

Hear it work.

Two real calls, recorded on the live line — the one that wakes you, and the one that doesn’t. Muffled voices, echo, background noise — Daniel works through all of it and still transcribes at close to 97% accuracy.

0:00 / 1:57

Water rising at 2 AM — hear Daniel take command and get the owner moving.

The real call — recorded on the live Duskworth line, unedited. Caller details fictional.

Demo of two real recorded calls. A 2am emergency: Duskworth’s assistant Daniel answers a caller whose basement is flooding, collects the address and callback number, gives safety advice, and alerts the owner to call back within 30 minutes. And a 10pm new-house repair request: the caller pushes for same-night service, and Daniel politely holds the owner’s rules and books it for 8 in the morning instead. Triage

It knows which calls are worth waking you for.

Most plumbers stop answering at night because most night calls aren’t worth it. Duskworth fixes exactly that.

Wakes you up

The jobs worth getting out of bed for

Burst pipe, flooding, sewage backup, no water at all — the big emergencies. Duskworth reaches you immediately so a four- or five-figure job doesn’t go to the next plumber on the list.

Books for morning

Everything else, handled while you sleep

A dripping tap or a slow drain doesn’t need a 3am call. Duskworth takes the details, books it for first thing, and lets you rest. The customer’s still yours.

    Your line forwards to Duskworth

When you can’t pick up — after hours, on a job, asleep — calls route to your Duskworth assistant instead of voicemail.

  2. 2

    It talks to the caller

A natural, human-sounding assistant answers, finds out what’s wrong, and figures out how urgent it really is.

  3. 3

You get the right call at the right time

A real emergency rings your phone now. Everything else is logged and booked for morning, details waiting for you.

From the founder

Duskworth is built and run from Waterloo by me, Addy — a computer science student at the University of Waterloo. There’s no call centre and no sales team. When you sign up, I configure your line myself, test it with you before it ever takes a real call, and you get my direct number.

Straight answers

Questions plumbers actually ask.

Will it sound like a robot?
No phone tree, no “press 1.” Daniel is a natural, human-sounding assistant that talks like a calm receptionist. Listen to the demo above and judge for yourself.
I already have an answering service. How is this different?
An answering service takes a message and passes it along — every call, every time, no judgment. Daniel handles the call: finds out what’s wrong, weighs it against your rules, books the routine work for morning, and wakes you only for the real thing. For less than a part-time receptionist.
What if it can’t handle a call?
If Daniel genuinely doesn’t know something, it asks you — once. The answer is learned, and every similar call after that is handled without bothering you. Your caller never hits a dead end, and you never answer the same question twice.
Do I need a new number or new hardware?
No. Your existing line forwards to Duskworth only when you don’t pick up — works with any carrier, nothing to install, and your number stays your number.
Who decides what counts as an emergency?
You do. During your setup week we write the rules together — what wakes you, what books for morning — and Daniel follows them. The defaults are spelled out above.
Whose customers are they?
Yours. Every call, transcript, and booking belongs to your business, and you can take it all with you any time. We never sell your customer information, and we use it only to run your line.
What happens after the free week?
Days 1–5 we configure everything for your business; days 6 and 7 it runs live and you listen in. Keep it and you’re month-to-month — cancel anytime. Cancel before the week ends and you pay nothing — though fair warning: once you’ve slept through a Tuesday night and still caught the emergency, it’s hard to go back. (Yearly plans trade the trial for two months free and are billed at signup.)
What if I go over my plan’s calls?
Each plan includes a set number of calls and minutes — and yearly plans come with eleven months’ worth of credits to spend any time in the year. Past your allowance, extra calls simply bill at 3× your plan’s monthly per-call rate, and we’ll always tell you before anything extra is charged. If you’re regularly over, the next tier is usually cheaper — and we’ll say so.
How do jobs get booked?
Daniel collects the address, the problem, and a time that suits the caller, then the job is logged and booked for morning with every detail waiting for you — like the call log in the demo.
